Stoner [UPDATE]

posted by Harty

With a random party announcing that Casey Stoner will drive a Dunlop Series V8 Supercar this season I’d imagine that Clipsal 500 Media Manager Mike Drewer will certainly be earning his keep. Not only will Mike have the task of introducing the Car of The Future to the world, he’ll...

ALMS / GA Merger

posted by Harty

Coinciding with the first day of practice for the 2013 24 Hours of Daytona (also called the Roar Before 24), a media conference was called to explain how the impending merger between the ACO governed American Le Mans Series and  NASCAR owned Grand Am would come about, effective 2014. With 2013 being seen as a lame duck year, in that until clear technical directions are provided many teams let alone manufacturers would be wary of investing too much. The words ‘work-in-progess’ were bandied around quite a bit without anything really concrete being said, spec wise. But here is the jist of it… The ALMS P1 class is gone. That...

THE REAL JAMIE IS NOT ‘WHINGECUP’

posted by The Foges

The Foges’ words of wisdom from his latest column in Auto Action magazine. THE REAL JAMIE IS NOT ‘WHINGECUP’ WHILE CATCHING UP WITH THE V8 CHAMP FOR AN EXTENDED CHAT WASN’T EASY, MARK FOGARTY SAYS IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT ONE OF Jamie Whincup’s few misgivings about his life as a now four-times V8 Supercars champion is that he gets very little time off during the season. Whincup doesn’t complain about the demands made on him when he’s out of his racecar, acknowledging that his a privileged life, but he does stress that his job involves a lot more than 16 weekends a year. A lot more. Like the other seven or so V8 drivers with the...

KEEPING UP WITH THE JONESES

posted by The Foges

The Foges’ words of wisdom from his latest column in Auto Action magazine KEEPING UP WITH THE JONESES AMONG THOSE WATCHING ALAN JONES ‘RECREATE’ HISTORY TO PROMOTE A FREE-ADMISSION DAY AT THE AGP WAS MARK FOGARTY HE WORE a black fire suit, but silver-haired former world champion Alan Jones left the white full-face helmet sitting on the semi-enclosed passenger seat as he gunned the old racecar along the lakeside path. In unguarded moments, Mark Webber still refers to Victoria as “The Nanny State” – and with good reason – but for last week’s reenactment at Albert Park, Jones was untroubled by the safety police as he...

Death of the burnout...

posted by Jeza

What is going on with our world? Victor Bray has not been invited to the Gold Coast 600 this weekend. Ok, I know it might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but “restricting” the amount of burnouts on the track weekend is PC gone mad. The original report said “A senior...

Radio HOTLAP is available free on the Apple iTunes Music Store, as a podcast. Our World Headquarters are located in a rather nice part of Adelaide, where regular production takes place. Unless we're somewhere else, which is often the case. If you ask nicely, you may be allowed to be part of our live audience.

Beyond Episode 200

There comes a time, in this case after six years, with over 240 episodes recorded in 10 different countries, 300+ guests and 220 continuous hours of recording, that we feel its time to go commercial. With over 55,000 viewers, since March 2011, we get some serious exposure. So we thought a magazine to fill in the gaps would be nice.

A Word of Warning

Our firm policy that we don't edit a show once its recorded is because it detracts from its natural conversational character in the first place. Commercial partners and alliances will have to adhere to policy and whilst we'll do the best to accommodate you and make you feel loved you have no control of how we do things. Just so we're clear on that :)
